What is New to Practice?


The Kent and Medway Training Hubs invite newly qualified GPs and Practice Nurses to apply for the New to Practice Programme, which aims to bridge the gap between competency for Certificate of Completion of Training and being confident in the real-world environment of modern Primary Care.




Individuals will gain a sense of belonging and ownership of the system in which they work and aim to provide peer support for early career GPs and Practice Nurses, support appraisal and revalidation and continue their professional development.


For GPs:


Individuals will gain a sense of belonging and ownership of the system in which they work and aim:

· To provide peer support for early career GPs

· To support appraisal and revalidation

· To provide Continuing Professional Development


To qualify for this exciting opportunity, applicants will need to meet the following criteria:

· Newly-qualified or within their first year in General Practice

· Hold/about to hold a substantive contract with Kent or Medway General Practice / PCN


For GP Nurses:


The programme aims to support Nurses new to General Practice to feel confident in the modern Primary Care world.


The NTPP modules have been designed to reflect the changing and complex nature of healthcare today, with themes relevant to nursing in Primary Care, as well as clinical sessions delivered by the Training Hub and Invicta Learning.

In addition, nurses can choose to apply for an optional full GPN Fellowship (Postgraduate training equivalent to 40 credits at Level 7 - MSc).


There will be up to 12 Fellowships available for GPNs ready to commit to a 2-year programme. Successful applicants will gain the opportunity to develop their clinical skills and leadership potential as well as develop personally, professionally and academically to benefit clinical practice.


To qualify for these exciting opportunities, applicants must meet the following criteria:

· Newly-qualified or within their first year in General Practice

· Hold/about to hold a substantive contract with a Kent or Medway General Practice/PCN
